On this day, 198 years ago, Andrew Jackson defeated the Redstick Creek army at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. It was a defining moment in U.S. history, and helped chart a new course in the nation’s history.
May those who fought and died in the Creek War, American and Native American, not be forgotten. For better or worse, their actions shaped the development of the South, and, by extension, the nation.
